PITTSFIELD CEMETERY BRIDGE

Bridge Replacement, In Progress

SK Design Group provided engineering services for the replacement of a deteriorating concrete bridge located within the historic Pittsfield Cemetery. The project involved the complete removal of the failing structure and the installation of a new prefabricated steel bridge, designed to improve long-term durability and minimize maintenance requirements.

To ensure stability and address challenging subsurface conditions, the new bridge is supported on abutments constructed using helical piles and reinforced concrete pile caps. This foundation solution allowed for efficient construction with minimal disturbance to the surrounding environment.

The upgraded bridge enhances access within the cemetery while maintaining the site's historic character, combining modern engineering with sensitive site integration.

The bridge superstructure was designed and prefabricated by True North Steel. The general contractor for this project was J. H. Maxymillian, Inc.

SK Design Services Provided: Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Land Surveying, and various permits.
