ORCHARD ROAD RECONSTRUCTION

SK Design Group provided civil engineering design and consulting services for the Orchard Road Reconstruction project in Dalton, Massachusetts. Orchard Road is a key local corridor connecting to Route 9 and had experienced years of pavement deterioration, drainage deficiencies, and safety concerns. Funded in part through a $1 million MassWorks grant, the project was initiated to address long-standing infrastructure issues while improving overall roadway performance for residents, commuters, and pedestrians.

The scope of work included full roadway reconstruction, stormwater drainage upgrades, and the installation of new concrete sidewalks to enhance pedestrian safety and accessibility. Design efforts focused on improving surface conditions, managing runoff more effectively, and integrating improvements within the constraints of the existing right-of-way and surrounding utilities.

The completed project delivers a safer, more resilient roadway and demonstrates SK Design Group’s expertise in delivering practical, community-focused transportation infrastructure solutions.
